Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator - Hampton Roads
Department: Grading
Reports to: Project Superintendent
Major Role and Purpose:
- Operates Heavy Industrial Equipment such as Dozers, Excavators, Backhoes or other grading or excavating equipment to move and level materials, such as dirt and gravel.
Description of Duties:
- Monitors the activity within the site.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
- The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
- Knowledge of how to operate Heavy Industrial Equipment.
- Spread dirt in fill area.
- Clear and grub area being worked.
- Run a fill area.
- Read slope stakes.
- Cut slope to the job’s specifications (type of slope, ditch cut depths and fill section heights).
- Direct trucks where to dump load.
- Dress and clean up job at the completion.
- Water, oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
- Ability to operate equipment in a safe and consistent manner.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma Preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- 3-5 Years Operating Various Heavy Equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Understand GPS grade control.
- Knowledge of grades.
